We worked with Activehours to redesign their home screen and navigation experience to highlight the company’s promise with every new feature.

Cash out what you've earned before your next payday.

Nobody wants to pay late fees on bills or overdraft bank fees. ActiveHours is a technology company that gives employees the freedom to cash out the hours that they have already worked before their next payday.

ActiveHours' promise is simple — empowering employees to take control of their finances through instant access to money earned. They deliver on that service by doing something unthinkable: not charging a fee and only asking for a tip. To make that work, we needed to look at the relationship that ActiveHours builds with the consumer and not at simply how much is gained from each transaction. We had to design a UI that reflects and reinforces that promise.

Good user experience guides users to do what is expected. Great user experience goes beyond features to align company beliefs with consumer values and build lasting relationships.

Every interaction in the app is an opportunity to further build the relationship between ActiveHours and their users. We designed into the UI subtle reminders of how ActiveHours was there for them the last time they used the service. Through the home screen UI, we helped integrate their new suite of offerings, called Superpowers, by establishing a clear relationship to their core offering. Superpowers are services designed mostly to run in the background, having their backs.
